What is Compounding?

Compounding is the art and science of creating personalized medications. Some medications are not readily available or made.  Thus, highly trained compounding pharmacists and technicians look to bring a solution to this gap in health care by providing customized solutions for their specific patient needs.

Every patient (human or animal) is different and may need specialized medication that isn’t commercially available.  We specialize in finding a solution for these patients.

Compounding Specialities

The compounding of mediations is the highly specialized creation of specific medications in specific dosage forms and strengths to meet individual patients’ (human and animal) needs. Our compounding service allows us to assemble and formulate medications into different dosage forms, specific strengths, and tailored combinations to meet our patient’s needs.

NewEra specializes in compounding fertility, urology, thyroid, pain, bio-identical hormone replacement (b-HRT) for men and women, and veterinary medications.

Semaglutide sublingual suspension and troches

What is it?
Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist and activates these receptors. Naturally,
GLP-1 is released after eating carbohydrates or fats to increase insulin production and secretion from the
pancreas, reduces glucagon secretion, slows gastric emptying, and reduces food intake. This can result in
reduced blood sugar levels and weight loss.
Semaglutide is indicated to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, and for chronic weight management when
combined with a reduced-calorie diet and exercise.

How is Semaglutide supplied?
Semaglutide is available commercially as an injection and tablets with a prescription.
Here at NewEra Pharmacy, LLC we compound semaglutide as a sublingual (under the tongue) suspension and
troches/lozenges. Patients are able to use our compounded semaglutide daily without the need for needles or
painful injections. Our sublingual formulations are unique, when compared to commercially-available products,
and are not currently restricted by the FDA.

When do patients use Semaglutide?
Patients typically use our compounded semaglutide daily by placing the medication under their tongue and
keeping it there for 1-2 minutes or until the troche has completely dissolved. This way the medication is
absorbed directly from your mouth. It is best to not eat, drink, or rinse your mouth out for 30 minutes after.

What are the main side effects?
Patients may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Patients typically experience these for
only a few days when first starting the medication and/or increasing their dose.
Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus that are on other medications for diabetes may experience low blood
sugar. Call your doctor and ask if your other diabetic medications should be adjusted.

What do I need to do to receive compounded Semaglutide?
Semaglutide sublingual suspension and troches/lozenges are available with a valid prescription from your
healthcare provider. Ask if semaglutide sublingual is right for you.
